Working with transgender youth and their families can pose both challenges for clinicians. The impact of transition on the family system can be complex and clinicians need specific skills to create a therapeutic space that both celebrates euphoric moments and honors the needs of the child and holds space for the experience of the family system as a whole.

Join Luca Valentine (they/them/theirs) for this four-hour course designed to support clinicians who work with transgender youth and their families to develop the foundational skills needed to do this work in a nurturing way.

By end of the session participants will be able to: a. name three aspects of assessment specific to working with trans youth and their family members, b. identify three themes common to the experience of family members of trans youth, c. name three interventions to support family systems with a transgender youth and d. describe systemic transphobia and three ways it is currently impacting youth in their communities

This course will be presented in a synchronous format using HIPAA compliant video platform.
