Supervisor, Educator & Consultant

Hi, I’m Nick. I am the Director and owner of Modern Path. I am proud to lead and mentor the team of folks we have here and to provide a place where folks in our shared communities can achieve their wellness goals and live authentically and radically free.

I blend my lived, clinical, and administrative experiences as I guide the organization. I select external projects that are meaningful to me which I believe will sustain the organization and help us grow as individuals, a team, and a business.

My career has spanned 25 years in community behavioral health, administrative oversight, and private practice. Where I have been is not as important as where I am, here, a middle aged, neurodivergent, disabled trans man living an authentic and radically queer life. I have had the honor impacting more lives than I can count over the span of my career. At a micro level thousands and at a policy and systemic level hundreds of thousands, possibly even more. I bring all of this into all that I do, seeing the world uniquely, tracking patterns of behavior, and interpreting and applying things in ways only a thrice gifted mind can.

I take great pride in supervising other queer and neurodivergent clinicians, providing them an opportunity to develop personally and clinically so that they may live authentically while practicing ethically. I also enjoy providing brave spaces for folks who are not queer or trans to learn, question their own biases, and develop the skills necessary to support their work related to the traumas of neurodivergence, gender and sexuality so that their clients can bask in feelings of connection, belongingness, and pleasure.

My current focus is to provide supervision for folks who do not work at Modern Path and to develop and strengthen our clinical team and business model. I am also available to provide consultation, education, and coaching services with a focus on the needs of those who live and love outside of the labels and constructs placed on us by the social narratives of individualism, capitalism and systemic oppression.

I serve as the Chairperson of the AASECT Ethics Advisory Committee and at the pleasure of the Board of Directors, hold a seat on the American Association of Somatic Sexologists Advisory Board.

In my personal life, I am and always will be a parent, a Leatherman, and an anarchistic punk. I am blessed with amazing partners and a wife who hold me in love and compassion. I have a grown child who is also in healthcare and makes Dad proud every day. For fun I remember that there is a teenage boy inside of me who never had the chance to grow up, I tinker in my garage learning new skills, bask in the sunshine of mowing the lawn and working in the yard, maintain a medicinal garden, roller skate, collect more rocks than my pockets can hold on hikes, read, and more. I facilitate body stress rituals and study the history of body modification in the west.

Fees

I use an equity based rate structure that promotes your access and my personal sustainability. Redistribution fees are consistent with cisgender peers and colleagues who have similar training and experience as my own who work outside of the queer community. Fees represent individual (50 min) and group ( 110 min) rates.

  • Redistribution: $255 to $300

  • Full Fee: $250

  • Sustain: $200 to $245

  • Solidarity: $150 to $195 (reserved for other trans therapists)
