"DBT-informed Interventions with Gender Diverse Individuals" taught by Luca Rock Valentine a.k.a. L. Caltabiano, LMSW, CMFT will be held on February 11, 2022, from 10am-1pm EST via synchronous video as part of our Synchronous Education offerings through Modern Path. With the completion of this course, you'll receive 3 Continuing Education Credits.
ABOUT THE CLASS:
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modality focused on decreasing ineffective coping skills and increasing effective coping skills. This course will demonstrate how DBT can be used to assist gender-diverse individuals living in a cis-centric world. Learners will be given an opportunity to explore fallibility and cultural humility when faced with serving gender-expansive individuals using a DBT model.
This course is recommended for all behavioral health professionals, both new and experienced in using DBT-informed skills as an intervention. Attendees should, at a minimum, have 101 level knowledge of gender affirming language and treating gender diverse individuals.
By the end of this course learners will be able to: 1. identify the four sets of DBT skills through a gender affirming lens, 2. name three opportunities to utilize validating language while providing skills education groups and individual therapy using DBT with gender diverse people, 3. model and identify three dialectics on a conversational level and incorporate nuanced language for validation and redirection.
This course will be presented in a synchronous format using HIPAA compliant video platform.
This course will be presented by Luca Rock Valentine aka Lucia Caltabiano, LMSW, CMFT (they/them). Luca is a white, nuerodivergent, non-binary transmasculine therapist practicing in Metro Atlanta.
